Motown blues: Little Mix in danger after X Factor judges slam their vocals and tell them to make Perrie lead singer

By J J Anisiobi

Little Mix, who began this week's show as favourites to reach the final, gave two average performances tonight which left judge Tulisa fuming and smacking the table in anger.

Misha B kicked off proceedings singing Dancing in the Street by Martha and the Vandellas.

She wore a black dress made of broken vinyl records and was joined by a stage full of dancers.

We are family: Little Mix stand together after getting told to find a leader

The colourful performance received great feedback from the judges with Louis Walsh saying: 'You're original you're unique. I want you in the final because you deserve to be.'

Gary Barlow was equally full of praise and said that Misha B was the reason he took the X Factor judging role.

He said: 'Thank you for making this experience a positive one for me.'

Kicking off: Misha B gave a strong opening to the show in a dress made of broken vinyl records

Her mentor, Kelly Rowland, added: 'Fantastic job tonight mama you committed to it and you had so much fun.'

The next act on was Amelia Lily who sang Aint No Mountain High Enough by Diana Ross.

Wearing a Houndstooth dress the 17-year-old gave a well executed performance that had Kelly nodding her head through out.

Bright lights: Amelia Lily gave a colourful performance and got positive feedback for her first song choice

Louis said she reminded him of Christina Aguilera and Tulisa said she brought Motown to life.

Gary added: 'You did really really well tonight. Amazing performance well done.'

Her mentor Kelly said that she 'sounded amazing' and was 'on fire tonight.'

Little Mix sang The Supremes hit You Keep Me Hangin' On and all sported bouffont hairstyles.

A bad start: Show favourites Little Mix got negative comments for their first song choice, Keep Me Hangin On

Bad times: The girls get grilled by Dermot O'Leary after the judges told them what they thought of their performance

Louis said: 'There was something missing on that performance. It's like you've lost your mojo. I was totally unimpressed girls.'

Kelly agreed and said: 'I just thought you would have brought it a little more as it's the semi finals.'

Gary was also negative about the performance and said: 'Perrie is the best singer in this band and I think she should feature a lot more than she is and that is what was missing in tonight's performance.'

Rising star: Perrie Edwards of Little Mix was singled out as the strongest singer by Gary Barlow

Their mentor, Tulisa, defended them aggressively and said that the band represent girls and they are all equal.

Little Mix band member Perrie, 19, appreciated the judges comments about her but said: 'We can all sing and there isn't a lead single at all.'

Next up was the last of The Boys, Marcus Collins and he sang My Girl by The Temptations.

Being a lion: Marcus Collins sang My Girl with four dancers backing him up

Dressed in a bow tie and Letterman jacket, the Liverpudlian was flanked by four male backing dancers.

Robbie Williams had paid him a visit earlier in the week and gave him some advice about his nerves before performing.

Robbie told him: 'Be a lion, you're a very handsome man.'

Emotional: Misha B performed a stripped song for her second performance

Louis said that he thinks he is the perfect pop star and Tulisa said the vocals were amazing but Gary could have picked a better song for the semi finals.

His mentor Gary was ecstatic with the performance and said: 'This was made for you Motown week, it's such a pleasure to work with you mate,' as the audience chanted his name.

The second half of the show kicked off with Misha B who had chosen to sing F**kin Perfect by Pink and rapped one verse midway through.

X Factor GrabNever going to win: Gary dropped the revelation after Misha had performed Perfect by Pink

As the crowd chanted her name Louis Walsh told her: 'You are a major major talent.'

Tulisa said she fully connected with the song and that she would buy her record.

Gary shocked the audience when he told the young singer she had no chance of being an X Factor champion.

He said: ' Misha I mentioned the positive side of you being here earlier but there is a negative side as well and that’s I’ve sat here and witnessed your journey and it makes me sad.'

The whole truth: Gary tells Misha that she cannot win the show and then his name began to trend on Twitter

As the audience began to boo him he continued: 'You have been wrongfully accused of being someone that you’re not.

'Even if you are lucky enough to get through tomorrow night, I don’t think you can win because of that and that’s a shame.'

Misha's mentor didn't seem to disagree with her co-judge's comments but claimed that Misha B would do well regardless.

Feeling good: Kelly Rowland said that Misha B will be a star regardless of whether she wins or loses the X Factor

Kelly said: 'Win, lose, X Factor, no X Factor, you are a star! A star!'

Misha said: I'm just really grateful that I've had the chance to make my dreams reality. Pls pls vote. just vote.

Next, Amelia Lily dressed in a long black gown sang I’m With You by Avril Lavigne.

The eyes have it: Amelia gave another strong performance which Louis said was the vocal of the night

Powerful voice: Gary told Amelia that her song was good but it was not the best vocal of the night

'That's the best vocal performance of the night,' said Louis.

But Gary disagreed and said it wasn't the best vocal of the night and told Louis that what he says doesn't count for much.

Marcus Collins took to the stage for his second song in a pair of leather trousers and a studded leather waistcoat.

Putting on a show: Marcus performed with more dancers for his second song and said he enjoyed it

You raise me up: The Liverpudlian gave a shaky performance but was still told he will make it to the final

He sang Can You Feel It by The Jackson 5 and was joined by a large amount of backing dancers.

But the judges gave mixed reviews for his performance despite Gary giving him a standing ovation.

Louis said: 'There's something missing it for me. That wasn't the right song choice.'

Tulisa agreed with Louis and said it wasn't one of his best performances.

Kelly added: 'It wasn't one of your best vocal performances.'

Under pressure: The group were favourites to reach the final before the show

Downbeat: Little Mix members Jade Thirwell and Perrie Edwards perform in the groups second song

Gary ignored the other judges and told Marcus that he was amazing.

The final act of the night was Little Mix and they performed If I Were A Boy by Beyoncé.

After Perrie was given slightly more vocals to perform the judges again gave them negative feedback.

Louis said: 'I didn’t like your first performance but girls I think you have got so much talent, I think you can win the entire series, but it wasn’t perfect tonight.'

Standing strong: The girls stuck together as the judges criticised them

Kelly told the girls that they will change the world if they can find out which one of them brings out the best in them, again affirming the need for them to find a leader.

Gary wasn't impressed by them and said: 'For a semi final act these vocals aren't good enough tonight.'

He was interrupted by a furious Tulisa who slammed her hand on the table and said: 'There is only one record contract and if people want to hear your music then they have to pick up their phone and vote.'

Little Mix took the criticism well and said: “We loved that song so much and it was really emotional but we don’t want to be perfect, we have still got a lot to learn.'

Angry woman: Tulisa shouts out after Gary told the girls that they weren't good enough

Berry Gordy is NOT dead, Louis! X Factor judge Walsh wrongly declares Motown LIVING legend to be deceased

By J J Anisiobi

Big mistake: Louis Walsh shocked the world when he claimed Motown legend Berry Gordy was dead

Hapless X Factor judge Louis Walsh made an embarrassing error on tonight's show that may just end his career as judge.

Louis, who has no remaining acts in the competition, left the audience and millions of viewers dumfounded when he claimed Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee Berry Gordy was dead.

The confusing statement was made after Misha B, 19, kicked off the show with 1964's Dancing In The Street.

Louis, who is a music producer, praised the Mancunian and said: 'If Berry Gordy were alive, he'd absolutely sign you.'

Berry, who is an American record producer and the founder of the Motown record label, is 82 years old and still alive.

Walsh clearly doesn't have his finger on the pulse because if he had watched the American Music Awards just two weeks ago, he would have seen that Berry is in good health.

Music legend: Berry Gordy is alive and well despite what Louis Walsh thinks

Having worked with artists including Michael Jackson, Diana Ross and Smokey Robinson, Berry was a guest at the White House earlier this year for The Sound of Young America: The History of Motown.

Alongside Michelle Obama, he gave a talk to over 100 students on his experiences in the industry.

What makes the faux-pas even more embarrassing for Walsh is that each Motown song performed by the semi-finalists was produced by either Gordy's label, Motown, or Gordy himself.

Legends: From left, Smokey Robinson with wife Claudette, and Berry Gordy arrive at the Annual American Music Awards

Household name: Berry at the White House as Michelle Obama makes a speech

After Louis' mistake, Berry Gordy's granddaughter took Twitter to set the facts straight.

Mahogany Gordy said: 'Just so EVERYBODY knows my grandfather Berry Gordy is alive & well. Xfactor needs to get their facts straight before saying lies. @LMFAO RT.'

Family ties: Berry Gordy's granddaughter corrected Louis on Twitter and told Gary Barlow

Mahogony, who is related to both members of chart topping group LMFAO, then messaged Gary Barlow and said: '@GBarlowOfficial i really don't appreciate your friend Louis Walsh saying my grandfather Berry Gordy isn't alive.. he is alive and well...'

Berry's granddaughter, who is a a model, actress and DJ, then followed up with scathing post about Louis that said: 'If Berry Gordy were alive, he would sign you to Motown,' Louis Walsh Gordy actually isn't dead. But hopefully your talent judging career is.'

This glaring error displayed Walsh's lack of industry knowledge and will put pressure on the shows bosses to axe the judge before the next series.

Music royalty: Mahogany is a dancer, model and a DJ

Do you really need that? Pixie Lott grabs a Lottery ticket before slipping into a miniscule leather dress for arena show

By Holly Thomas

Just in case: She may be a hugely successful pop star, but it seemed Pixie Lott wanted to hedge her best as she bought herself a lottery ticket in Manchester yesterday

She confidently slipped into a miniscule leather dress to perform for thousands of screaming fans last night.

But it appears that even Pixie Lott wasn't feeling too complacent about which way her fortunes may turn in the future.

The 20-year-old had popped into a Manchester newsagents only hours earlier to pick up a lottery ticket.

... but it was back to her usual star lifestyle as she performed at the Liverpool Echo arena later on that evening

Killing some time in between her Manchester and Liverpool shows, the star chatted on her mobile as she picked up her numbers in the local shop.

The star was dressed in a smart but casual combination of black leggings and a black coat with a cosy fur collar.

She was shopping with friends in Manchester city centre after kicking off Christmas at the MEN arena alongside JLS, Matt Cardle, and Olly Murs.

At ease: Relaxed Pixie chatted on her phone in the newsagents before heading into Manchester city centre for a spot of shopping

And later on she donned a tiny black dress for her Liverpool Echo arena concert.

Her skimpy ensemble showed off her toned legs, which were sensibly clad in a pair of tights to keep her toasty in the chilly December air.

Pixie wore her bobbed hair up, keeping her make-up classic with her trademark smokey eyes and nude lips.

Back to the night job: Pixie made sure her toned legs were on full display in a tiny black leather dress as she worked the stage

She tweeted her excitement before the show, writing: 'Liverpoooool show tonight wowowop! Who's readyyyyyyy', but made no mention of her earlier shopping trip on her Twitter page.

She's hardly in the position to need a multi-million windfall, living the kind of lifestyle that most lottery hopefuls can only dream of.

Pixie has for example been keeping fans up to date on her enviable designer wardrobe via her Advent bog on Vogue.

Smoking hot: Pixie cast a sultry look with her perfectly made-up charcoal eyes

Yesterday's post read: 'Today I'm wearing a mens blazer by Thom Sweeney, a white Moschino shirt which you see the cuff detail of in this photo, black shorts from L'Agence, Office shoes and a vintage Chanel bag bought in One Of A Kind.'

She's certainly been getting into the festive spirit, having joined artists such as Maroon 5 and Primal Scream in contributing her favourite Christmas songs to the Spotify advent playlist.

Turn it up: Pixie certainly wasn't lacking in energy considering she'd performed in Manchester only the night before

Bit overdressed for a night out with the girls? Alex Gerrard sports strange leather creation as she flaunts post-baby figure

By Holly Thomas

Rather messy: Alex Gerrard donned an odd combination of leather, fur and lace for a night out in Liverpool yesterday

As anyone who's seen the already-infamous new reality show Desperate Scousewives will know, there's never an excuse to step out looking shabby in Liverpool.

But new mother Alex Gerrard appears to have taken things rather too far, wearing a bizarre black fur leather and lace creation to hit the town for some post-baby celebrations.

The strange ensemble appeared to be a confusion of at least three outfits, including odd long leather cuffs on her arms.

She appeared to be showing off her stomach with a sheer lace top, keeping her shoulders warm in fur.

Alex bravely bared her tanned legs despite the December chill, wearing a pleather skirt with fabric panels at the hip.

Her sparkly clutch, though also black, only added to the general messy effect.

Not flattering: Alex showed off her stomach with a sheer lace top

Mixed impression: Alex looked in amazing shape considering she only gave birth a month ago, but her outfit was a sad misfire

Alex got tipsy with a few friends at Gaucho bar before moving onto San Carlo.

The 29-year-old must have been doing some serious yoga training during her pregnancy, as she looked in incredible shape considering how recently she gave birth.

It has barely been a month since she gave birth to her baby girl Lourdes, her third daughter with Liverpool captain and England midfielder Steven.

Catching up: Alex hit the Gaucho club before moving onto San Carlo with some girlfriends

Steven and Alex already have two other daughters, Lilly-Ella, seven, and five-year-old Lexie.

Lourdes is the name of the French town to which millions of Catholic pilgrims travel every year.

It is also where the Virgin Mary is said to have appeared to a poor 14-year-old girl called Bernadette Soubiroux in 1858.

Long-awaited fun: Alex gave birth to her third daughter Lourdes on 2 November

Both Steven and Alex are practicing Catholics so that might have swayed their decision to call their third daughter Lourdes.

Then again, the reason might have been far simpler, if Alex's interview with OK magazine shortly after the birth is anything to go by.

Alex explained: 'To be honest, I've always loved that name'

'We wanted to pick something that began with L because of Lilly and Lexie and both Steven and I agreed on Lourdes. It suits her perfectly.'

Dressed down: Alex's appearance last week was rather more relaxed

She gushed that she and husband Steven couldn't have been more thrilled when their new addition arrived perfectly healthy, weighing 7lb 15 oz.

Alex divulged: 'The first thing I said to Steven when I saw Lourdes was that I couldn't believe how much she looks like him.'

'She's the spitting image of him!'

Who said exes can't be friends? Prince Harry and Chelsy Davy party night away at same venue

By Rebecca English

Embrace: Chelsy Davy and Prince Harry gave each other a warm cuddle

Most people avoid their exes like the plague.

But Prince Harry and Chelsy Davy attended the same venue last night, both soldiering on until 2.30am.

Friends: The couple were obviously glad to see each other

Club-goers said the couple greeted each other warmly inside The Brompton Club, situated in the exclusive area of Chelsea, London.

Sources said the prince and his ex, 26, chatted without any obvious awkwardness, although it is unlikely that his recent liaison with a tattooed cocktail waitress would have been a topic of conversation.

Socialites: Prince Harry and ex-girlfriend Chelsy Davy attended the same venue last night, partying until 2.30am at The Brompton Club

The pair were joined by an odd mish-mash of guests, including Dizzee Rascal, David Haye and Louis Walsh - hardly known for his wild ways.

Harry, 27, opted for a smart-casual look, choosing to wear a suit and black shoes, but ditching the tie and leaving his top button undone.

Former flame Chelsy, 26, wore a a festive red berry mini dress, teaming the frock with black heels and a winter coat jazzed up with a purple lining.

Greeted with a hug: Harry embraces Chelsy prior to hitting the club, at The Henry Van Straubenzee Memorial carol concert at St Luke¿s Church, Chelsea

No bad blood: Chelsy looked happy to see Harry and shot him a beaming smile, before he chatted to his sister-in-law's mother Carole Middleton

Eyes meeting across the room: Harry seems to find his ex-girlfriends' gaze despite several people sandwiched between them

Earlier in the afternoon, they came into contact at The Henry Van Straubenzee Memorial carol concert at St Luke's Church, also in Chelsea.

The pair were seen greeting each other with a friendly hug as they attended the event of which Harry is a patron for the charity.

They were also joined by Kate and Pippa's mother Carole Middleton.

The couple appear to have had a complex history, with their turbulent relationship causing them to split four times between 2004 and 2009.

Ready to party: Harry makes his way inside the club, dressed up in his suit but ditching the tie

Earlier this year, there was speculation they would rekindle their romance once more, however Harry publicly stated he was '100 per cent single'.

Then at his brother's wedding to Kate Middleton in April, rumours circulated that Harry was more interested in flirting with maid of honour Pippa than watching Prince William take his vows.

Strange guestlist: Louis Walsh attended, alongside David Haye and Dizzee Rascal

Harry has just returned from the US, where he underwent two months of intense military training in California and Arizona.

A rep for Naval Air Facility El Centro in El Centro, said: 'Captain Wales has completed his training in the United States and has returned to the UK.'

Going home alone: Chelsy didn't seem to be in the mood to continue the party and caught a taxi solo

Time for bed: Chelsy avoided posing for photographs as she headed home

Going home separately: Despite partying at the same venue, Harry headed back in his own vehicle

Last men standing! Mark and Dougie to fight it out for I'm A Celeb crown, but the battle is close as they're neck and neck in the polls

By Kirsty Mccormack and Holly Thomas

Will he win? Mark Wright has made it to the final of I'm A Celebrity...Get Me Out Of Here

Mark Wright and Emily Scott may have set tongues wagging with their jungle flirtations, but it's fair to say Mark's attention has shifted since her departure.

He and McFly bass player Dougie have seen their unlikely friendship go from strength to strength, but it is about to face its greatest test yet.

With Antony and Fatima were voted out, the best buddies have been left to fight it out for the crown in the final, airing tonight.

And all that man love flying about the jungle has certainly had an impact on the viewers, as the pair are currently neck and neck in our very own Daily mail poll.

'Bosom buddies': Dougie will be up against his friend Mark in tomorrow's grand final

Only one of the young stars will be named King of the jungle but no doubt there will be 'no hard feelings' when the winner is announced tomorrow.

The Only Way Is Essex star Mark seemed to agree and revealed he's made some true friends.

'Dougie will be a friend for life but when I first met Antony I didn’t know if I’d get on with him as much as I did,' he said.

'When Emily came into the camp I thought she’s hot, she’s a true fighter, if I get out and we gel then who knows what might happen.'

He then went on to say how much he'd missed his family whilst being in the jungle but was glad that he did it.

'It makes me emotional thinking about it because it has been the most wonderful experience.

'I’m proud and honoured every day that goes by I’ve won, every vote that’s been given me, I’ve won.'

Obvious award: Mark won his prize for having the Best Body

Dougie admitted that he wasn't sure he'd made the right decision by going on the show, but added he couldn't have been more wrong.

'I was super nervous and I thought, "what am I doing?" I have nothing in common with these people," and I didn’t expect to get on with many of the others.

'I’ve met people that I’ll be friends with for a long time. I thought I wouldn’t get on with Mark but it’s awesome hanging out with him.

Smelly winner: Dougie won the award for being the Most Grubbiest camp mate

'The experience has been amazing, wicked, everything about the jungle is amazing. Anyone who gets the chance, should do it, it’s the coolest thing ever.'

Mark's best friend and TOWIE wingman James 'Arg' Argent might be the best person to give Dougie an indication of what he can expect should his friendship with Mark continue outside the jungle.

Arg has been looking forward to a reunion with his best mate - and a return to their favourite boys' nights, a hugely embarrassing secret he keeps from all ladyfriends.

The Essex singer confessed in an interview with the Mirror: 'Mark’s big secret is his lads’ sleepovers – he’ll be so embarrassed now his girlfriends have found out. We’ve always done them and the last was about a month ago.'

Missing his family: Mark began to cry when his letter from his family was read out to him

'We share a bed and watch a movie – last time we saw the Disney film The Mighty Ducks on DVD.'

Despite his natual envy of Dougie spending so much time with Mark, Arg enthusiastically showed his support for Mark, gushig: 'I’m confident he’ll be the King of the Jungle.'

Emotional Mark was rather overwhelmed when he heard a letter from his family yesterday, having admitted on several occasions just how much he missed them.

'We are so proud of you and everyone is missing you and sending their love and kisses,' they wrote.

Getting emotional: The McFly star got quite upset as his letter from his band mate and girlfriend was read out

'You have done everything that we hoped you would; you are a true gentleman and a courageous and fun-loving boy.

'We are all willing you to win but you are already a winner in our eyes. Everyone is voting for you at home and so many are saying that you have surprised them and that they feel they are seeing the real Mark.
'We miss you and love. TEAM MARK! TEAM MARK!'

No boundaries: Mark sniffed Dougie's armpit while Antony looked on in shock

Wiping away his tears, Mark said: 'Every day I’ve been waiting to hear from my family. I speak to my mum and dad about ten times a day so to receive a letter saying how they are feeling about me couldn’t be more emotional and meant the world. I’ll save that letter to the day I die.'

McFly star Dougie was the last one to hear his letter - which had been written in two segments by his band mate, Tom Fletcher, and his girlfriend.

His partner, Lara, wrote: 'Oi oi Captain, Tom says I have to say something cringy now to see if I can make you cry.

Testing times: Dougie was covered with fly pupae for a bushtucker trial on his 24th birthday...

... but best mate Mark was there to greet him when Dougie returned triumphantly to camp

'So, meeting you has been the best thing that’s ever happened to me. You truly are the most special person I know and I’m hook line and sinker in love with you.

'However, if you dump me for your new man friend Mark I will slap you round the face with a wet fish. You have been warned.

Love your fellow finger clicker. X Lots of love, Tom, Gi and Lara.

Guy time: mark then joined Dougie as he went for a much needed wash in the pool

Dougie seemed really chuffed with his letter and said afterwards: 'That letter beats any present and I will keep that letter for the rest of my life.'

But Antony couldn't let a day go by without a moan about Fatima, and as she began bossing Mark and Dougie about Antony told them that they should stick up for themselves.

'People are trying to take control of the camp as a ploy to get to the final,' Mark said.

'She’s cutting us down all the time and making us feel bad.'

(Fe)male bonging: Back when the girls were in camp. Mark borrowed Jessica-Jane's coconut bra

Dougie agreed, saying: 'Antony and Fatima have different ways of running the camp; it’s like a time bomb waiting to explode.'

Mark and Dougie have been rather more supportive of each other than their bickering former camp mates, as was evident after Dougie endured a bushtucker trial in lieu of a 24th birthday party.

Mark suggested Dougie do the rial to mark his special day- though his pal wasn't so sure about doing it at first.

Dougie rallied however, declaring: 'I have to do relatively well as everyone is bumming out today.'

Not to be outdone: Dougie got in on the cross-dressing action, modelling her leopard-print bra

After a gruesome ordeal which saw Dougie consume fly pupae, Dougie returned to camp triumphant, where Mark greeted him with open arms.

Mark and Dougie have been of one mind from the beginning- even when it comes to slightly less serious matters.

Back when the girls were still in camp, it appeared Mark was becoming jealous of all the attention Emily Scott and Jessica-Jane Clement's buxom bodies were getting.

Dougie teamed up with his friend to try ad win back some of the limelight, giving Jessica-Jane's leopard print bra a test run while Mark donned her coconut bra.
